Feb 1st: Date Night Link up w/ Jenna!

Jenna (click the image above to get to her) & I came up with a monthly link up featuring your most recent date night, date styles, ideas, etc, on the first of each month. For my first one, I'm just going to show y'all a bunch of pictures from me and the Mr's most recent date. This post is a bit link heavy, so click below if you dare!

This date happened a couple weeks ago on our day off together, which is Monday. We love our Mondays off together. Everyone else is at work so wherever we go, whether it be a restaurant, the mall or an arcade, they're generally vacant, which is great.

Would you all like to see what my husband wore for our day out? I hope so, because I posted pictures of it anyway. Here's 6'8" of pure man. You're welcome.

After a few poses that made him feel girly, he demanded I photograph him "looking strong" so I could "show all my blog friends how strong my husband is".

I'll do him a favor and color you all impressed.

And guess what? I was wearing clothes too!

Looking back on this outfit, I'm not sure I like the weird color scheme, but it was supposed to be a conglomerate of things my husband likes to see me in ("tight stuff") and things I like to be in (comfortable heels and WARM EVERYTHING). I don't think I like the contrast of the warm-toned boots with the rest of my cool-toned outfit, but the good thing is that men don't know that kind of stuff, so according to Matt, I'm a babe (and ignorance is bliss).

^^^ Let me also say that we'd been snow free for a few days until this day. I was not happy.

We started the day date out by going to Ruby Tuesday's, a favorite of mine.

I love going out to eat, but I don't have a large appetite and can't always finish whatever I order (unless it's ice cream. I can always finish ice cream). So my two mini burgers and fries was way too much and I had to force Matt (and his very, very full stomach) to eat my last mini burger.

This was Matt trying to will his stomach into making enough room for a burger. He was also saying over and over to that burger, "You're gonna die."

After our early dinner, we headed to a local arcade called Lucky's. We go here about once a month and go wild. And by go wild I mean try our luck at Deal or No Deal for literally a dozen games in a row. We used to get really lucky! Now we just walk away in shame with our measley 147 tickets after a dozen games.

I also have a strange compulsion toward any kind of "coin dozer" game. Matt always asks if I want to play, and I'm like "Nah, I'm fine." But then he keeps badgering me, so I finally do, and then there's no turning back. I'm hooked, I can't stop playing & burning through our coins, and I start shouting things like "GIVE ME COINS YOU FOOL" when I run out of coins to play with and "I'M LYNETTE MONEY HOYLE!" whenever coins drop.

Matt finds this to be hilarious, but please, no one ever take me to a casino. My life earnings depend on it.

After Lucky's, I begged Matt to take me to Coldstone. Though I'm pretty healthy most of the time, the other part of the time is ice cream. We don't even really keep any in the house because once I pop I just can't stop. Several times Matt has left ice cream in the freezer when he's gone to work, only to come home later to find his wife sprawled across the couch in a sugar coma with melted ice cream all over the place. So yeah. We don't keep ice cream in the house. But on this freezing cold day, I needed Coldstone. We walked in and I batted my eyes and innocently begged to order the largest size ice cream. Who can say no to me?

Hello, Birthday Cake Remix.

One giant bowl of ice cream (and one large stomach ache) later, we were back home, snuggled on the couch, watching football (Matt's choice, not mine... but it's growing on me!).

So that was our date! A day of our favorite things: eating out, playing games, ice cream and football!  Let me know if you wanna link up next month!

    1. We seriously are two giant kids. You know what we did after football? Watched the Disney channel. We're obsessed. We DVR the new episodes of everything because God forbid should we miss an episode of Good Luck Charlie. LOL.

AND I LOVE BIRTHDAY CAKE EVERYTHING TOO! It's my favorite flavor ever. Though any ice cream is good ice cream, obv. :)

  6. Awww, fun! Looks like you guys had a great time! Also, I am super jealous you have Mondays off together. We barely leave our place sometimes on the weekends just because it is so busy EVERYWHERE and we just want some time together.

Also, he is totally right: YOU ARE A BABE! And I think this outfit works :) At least you're pulling it off really well! Have a good weekend!

    1. We looooove our Mondays together :) Sometimes we don't leave the couch and spend all day watching HGTV and Disney, but every other Monday or so, we like to at least get out of the house. :)

  7. So cute!! And I'm so happy to hear you were both wearing clothes on your date! ;)

My husband has been traveling a LOT this month, so we haven't had many date night opportunities, but as soon as he's home I'll definitely need to do a date night post!

    1. See those duckies up there? We played away $17 worth of coins to get a duck. We didn't even know how to feel about it afterward.

  11. Ruby Tuesday's and Coldstone?! My kinda date! You both look great, and I love the color scheme you chose - not weird at all :)

  12. Aww you two are such a good lookin' couple! What a fun date night, and OMG ICE CREAM. I am totally jealous, as I'm supposed to be dairy free right now (nursing my daughter who is apparently sensitive to dairy in my diet) and coconut/soy ice cream just doesn't do it for me. When I wean my daughter the first place I'll be going to is Cold Stone, and then buying a giant wheel of cheese to eat.

For what it's worth, I like your outfit! I don't mind the warm/cool tones together :)

    1. I don't know if I could survive dairy-free! LOL @ a giant wheel of cheese.. honestly, if I could have a carton of ice cream and giant wheel of cheese by my side, I'd literally never need to eat anything else. <3
