Cardigan?

It snowed.

Coat: Old Navy, $17
Cardigan: Old Navy, $5
Skirt: Banana Republic, $25
Necklace: Forever 21, $8
Shoes: Forever 21, $20

And say hello to my first cardigan.  Well, not my first ever, but my first since probably about 2007, and the first I've worn since then.

I don't know what I have against cardigans. I guess I just always felt matronly when wearing them, and once I discovered blazers in about 2010, there was no going back. Anything a cardigan can do, a blazer can do better! Right? No? Well anyway. Old Navy was having a ridiculously awesome sale the day after Christmas, so I figured there's no time like a $4.98 time to buy a cardigan. In fact, I bought two. And took them home and stared at them until they created outfits for me.

The coloring is off here, because the cardigan is certainly more tangerine than bright fire red as seen here. I'm liking it though! So maybe cardigans aren't so bad. I think we are going to be friends.

Also, I've come up with another New Years Resolution: Finally mail out the thank you cards for my wedding. Better three months late than never, is what I always say....

    1. Haha thanks! I felt like I was cheating by putting a blazer over a cardigan when I'm trying to figure out how to wear cardigans, but it was too cute! Plus I work in a freezing cold office, so multiple layers is a must. :)

  4. Red...Tangerine...either color looks great! I have so many cardigans, too many. I didn't wear them for years b/c it felt like wearing a lab coat or scrub jacket, just a frumpy feel. But layering it with a blazer and/or skinny belt is def the way to do it!

    1. That's exactly why I didn't wear them. On other girls they look cute, but I never felt polished or classy with one on myself. I'm on a mission to find ways to wear them though!

  5. For someone who hasn't worn a cardigan in 5 years (OMG 6. wtf 2013, I'm not ready for this), you look great. I felt the same way about blazers - I used to wear cardigans so often, but then found blazers and loved how they can be layered just as easily but add a crispness that cardigans can't. Now I'm about 70/30 blazers/cardigans and love both of them :)

    1. Thank you! I'm wearing the other cardigan I bought today, a cream colored one. It's nice! I work in an office so I like blazers for work, and when I'm not at work I find I'm usually in yoga pants and a few layered tees at home, but cardigans are nice for my days off when I leave the house and don't wanna wear a blazer! Haha I always later up in the winter, and always feel so weird in jeans and a blazer when my husband is in just an old shirt and jeans haha.

  16. I'd say you were successful at wearing a cardigan and not even looking close to matronly! :) Love it with the contrast of the black blazer paired with the brown belt!
